IEEE 1547
IEEE Standards for Interconnecting Distributed Resources with Electric Power Systems

Scope

This standard establishes criteria and requirements for interconnection of distributed resources (DR) with electric power systems (EPS).

The USA Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 calls for state commissions to consider certain standards for electric utilities. Under Section 1254 of the act: "Interconnection services shall be offered based upon the standards developed by  IEEE 1547 as may be amended from time to time."

Purpose This document provides a uniform standard for interconnection of distributed resources with electric power systems. It provides requirements relevant to the performance, operation, testing, safety considerations, and maintenance of the interconnection.

Status Initially published and designated as an ANSI American National Standard in 2003. It was reaffirmed in 2008, and amended in 2014.

A full revision is underway, and schedules for completion by 2018.
